Press Release. The meeting has followed the trip to Algiers of Ansaldo Green Tech CEO Daniela Gentile, held in last December, to introduce the company’s expertise in the field of hydrogen and storage to support the energy transition.

The Ansaldo Energia Group has a strong bond with the North African country thanks to a historic presence dating back to the 70s, when a multi-fuel electrical power plant with a power of 75 MW was built for Sonelgaz in Annaba.

After this, several other contracts have been signed during the years; the more recent one, for the Hassi Messaoud power plant, was awarded following an international public call for tenders with the participation of the most prominent players on the global energy market. Ansaldo Energia supplied the customer, Sociéte Algérienne de Production de l'Electricité (SPE), a member of the Sonelgaz group, with an open-cycle plant located in central-eastern Algeria, about 850 km southeast of the capital city, Algiers, with a total power of more than 660 MW.

Nowadays, our Group is strongly committed to confirm its position as a key partner in development of the country's strategic plan for generation of electricity in Algeria also during this crucial phase of the energy transition.
